Michael is Founder and Principal of michaelD. Communications (mDC), an Oakland based marketing, communications and brand management firm with clients in the U.S. and Caribbean. The firm provides a variety of services in both mass and emerging markets, including digital media, real estate, travel, construction, arts/culture, consumer products, faith-based, health/wellness, and financial services, giving them a uniquely broad market perspective, leading to keen insights and brand management skills.

Michael is also Managing Editor of theREGISTRYBayArea.com, published by michaelD. Communications. theREGISTRY is the Bay Area’s online destination for African American arts, culture, lifestyle and technology. Known for their photo-journalism and event coverage, their popular weekly enews publications include IGNITE, the Bay Area’s guide to African American events, and TECH Digest: Silicon Valley tech and diversity news with an African American focus. This year theREGISTRYBayArea.com launched “40 Under 40: Diverse Tech – Silicon Valley,” a recognition of tech professionals from underrepresented communities of color.

As a technology and marketing professional, Michael has more than 20 years of marketing, strategic planning, internet technology and brand management experience. His corporate experience includes Charles Schwab, where as Vice President he oversaw the African American Investor Services enterprise nationwide, and Chief Marketing Officer for the Rock Church in San Diego, one of the largest megachurches in the country.
Three years ago Michael founded the African American Employee Network, a coalition of Bay Area employee resource groups, and continues to participate on its leadership team. He is currently working on a number of projects specifically geared towards galvanizing African American technology employee resource groups with the goal of increasing the participation of Blacks in tech.
